2017: A Magical Year - 2018: More Magic To Come!

Happy New Year from J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World Of Harry Potter Club! Much has happened in the Wizarding World this year, and we can certainly look forward to more magic on its way!

The next movie in the Fantastic Beasts series has been announced, Fantastic Beasts: Crimes Of Grindlewald. The film will be released in November, 2018, featuring Newt Scamander, Porpentina Goldstein, Queenie Goldstein, and Jacob Kowalski; as well as some new characters and familiar faces. Both Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindlewald will play an important role in this new story taking place in Paris.

Pay special attention to the clouds toward the end of this first look - observant eyes may spot a familiar rune!

Also new this year, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child is coming to Broadway! Now American fans will have the chance to see the eighth story live on stage in New York City.

2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the U.K. release of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone, and to celebrate 20 years of Harry Potter, the British Library in London hosted the exhibit, Harry Potter: A History Of Magic. The exhibit featured magical artifacts spanning thousands of years of wizarding history. A book highlighting the exhibition was published, Harry Potter: A Journey Through The History Of Magic. The book features bits of magical history and notes in J.K. Rowling's own handwriting. Harry Potter: A History Of Magic Film - BBC Two

Universal Studios Orlando recently announced that they will be working on a new ride in The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter: Hogsmeade! The new ride will be a rollercoaster - like attraction replacing the old Dragon Challenge. For more information click here.

Along with the History Of Magic, two more new books were published. Both illustrated editions of Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them.

Last but definitely not least, Pottermore has released and will be releasing a set new digital magical experiences. You can tour the exterior of Hogwarts castle at pottermore.com/hogwarts, and soon we'll be able to go to Hogwarts ourselves in Pottermore's Portkey Games new mobile apps coming out some time this year, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery! It certainly seems that the new year will be full of magic! For now, we can only wait (and while we're waiting, this New Year's weekend, both TV channels FreeForm and HBO are having Harry Potter Weekends!)
